Drama trip to Mullingar

Two days ago we went to Mullingar to take part in the drama competition that we had been practicing in English. I played the part of a loving wife waiting for her husband top return from war in Iraq. My husband by the was was played by my dear ally Ruth Fitzmaurice. Our play was based on the poem "But you didnt" by Merill Glass. Our school entered four groups and every group did relly well. The adudicator gave us all great feedback and construcktive criticism and said she really liked our perfromances. When we had all finished we went for lunch and came back to watch three other dramas from other schools all over the counrty. They were very different to ours but i enjoyed them alot. The day was great fun and I really enjoyed it.

Rugby tournament

We went to the rugby tournament in a school in Tallaght. It was a fantastic day out. In the morning before we left I wasn't really looking forward to going and when we got there at first I didn't feel that different but when we got playing and supporting we had a blast. We got a good plan worked out and in the end Our team (the red team) won every single one of our matches, we didnt get a medal for winning but the pride was good enough for us. When everybody had finished we were all kindly given a Leinster rugby bag and t-shirt. I think it was definately a very worthwhile activity and I enjoyed it very much.

Young Scientist

When we went to the young scientist I wasn't expecting that much from the day. At first it wasn't that great but after a while it was brilliant. We took part in games, quizes and other activities and it was so much fun. As well as that everybody got loads of useful free stuff.
I played a dance game, a shooting game and a football kicking game I was good at the dance but no so great at the shooting and football. I saw alot of interesting things like a juggling show, I even got to touch a centipede it felt freaky but was worth it. The best and funniest part of the day was when we were all playing with a bouncing ball, somebody kicked it and it bounced right off of Mr. K's head, it was hillarious. Over all it was a funfilled enjoyable day and I learned alot from it too.

Dress up Day

Today was our Christmas themed dress up day. A couple of girls in my class and I dressed up as people from the nativity, I was a Shepard. We were chosen to represent our class in the parade at lunchtime. Unfortunately we didn’t win but the people who did definitely deserved to. All in all today was a fun day with a good atmosphere around the school

Pilates

Pilates

Today for P.E we had our first session of pilates with our instructor Angela. It was really good. She taught us how to stand and sit correctly so that your posture is perfect. We learned a couple of basic pilates excersizes and she also taught us how to breath correctly for pilates. I persomally really enjoyed it and found it really relaxing. I can’t wait till next week to do it again to relax and learn more pilates excersizes.

Podcasts

Today we had a podcasting session with two guys called Peter 7 Chris. They were really nice and were from Australia and so had really cool accents. They taught us how to create podcasts. We were split up into groups and told to make a podcast of our own. My group called our podcast “Teatastrophy”. It was hilarious. We all did different accents and I found it hard to get through my lines without laughing. It took a lot of editing to get rid of the laughter. At the end they played us all of the podcasts from our class. They were all great and had everyone in stitches. The day ended on a great high because of the podcasts and everyone was in a great mood.

Work Experience

I did my work experience in Hubu hair Salon. I was lucky as someone in my class also applied for their work experience there. We were given tasks such as; Folding towels, sweeping floors, washing surfaces, Making tea/coffee, Washing and drying dishes/equipment, drying towels, washing hair and giving the customers magazines etc. At first I was very nervous but as the days went by I got to enjoy it. I was working from 9-6 so it was more hours than I was used to and I was quite tired. When my work experience was done my supervisors very kindly gave me a voucher for a free student trim and blow dry. I can’t wait to use it now :)
