Ty week 8

This week all of the Tys went to Naas for out second mini-company workshops. This time we looked at our products and how we would go about advertising them. We found that sometimes advertising can be a big waste of money, so she tols us what not to do and gave us examples of wasting money on advertising. It was very helpful to know as hopefully it'll save us money when it comes to our mini-companies.

We also had a woman come in to us from Achord this week to talk to us about "relationships". The woman that came into us was called Margaret and she was very nice. The teachers were supposed to be in the room with us but she asked if they didn't, and I'm happy she did. We all agree that if teachers were there we wouldn't have opened up as much as we did. I found it very informative yet enjoyable :)

Ty week 7

This week we had people out of  "Colour me beautiful" come speak to us and tell us about what style pesonalities we are, what colour type we are and what clother suit different body shapes.
I was selected as a light along with two other girls out of my class. I was very happy with my colour type as the colours I was told suited me where some of my favourite colours. I was the model for the lights, by this I mean that they put the different colour pallets of different colour types. They did this with one person out of each group. I was amazed to see how the different shades actually did suit different perople and how they can make you look really well, or just completely wash you out.
We took a quiz and I was found to be a casual style personality. I think that this would sum me up very well so it was kind of weird to see how much they knew about you without having met you at all.
All in all this experience was hugely helpful and informative and it made for a great week, I just wish it had been longer :)

Ty week Six:

This week started off with our first camogie match of the year on Monday. It was against school Lorretto from Crumlin. They were quite an aggressive side but we gave them a good fight. In the second half my science class came out to cheer us on, they were great :) We had a fabulous victory in the end with a final score of something like  6:6 to 1:2.

We also learned how to do hand massages this week in pastoral care. We mixed sweet almond oil with some lemongrass and light a lavender ans rose candle. None of us really thought anything of it, we didn't see how it would work but in the end it did actually get us all pretty chilled out, I wish we could have stayed there fror longer haha.

We had double P.E this week too. We continued on with our tag rugby thing we did before. I didn't personally notice anything different but Mr. Lawlor said he saw a huge improvement in all of us since the first week so it must be really working.

Geography Project

For my geography project I have to imagine I will be going on a round the world trip. We have to visit first second and third world countries. A second world country I would be interested in visiting is China. I want to visit China because it has a well known culture arou nd the world and many famous builds such as the great wall of china. Did you know? Ice cream was first invented in China :)

Ty Week Five

Ty week five: This week started off well, we came in and as hoped, it was announced that class amina had won the prize for the Ty fun run. It was great! I’d say Mr. L was disgusted after all of his bragging but I was chuffed. We got two boxes of chocolates to share between us for winning, they were delicious. We had our first singing music class too, it was Hillarious!! We did harmonies to an African chant “Bonawa bonawa bona-wayo” Everyone thought it was gas with the chants and the voice warm up excersizes but at the same time we all enjoyed it. My mini-company group finalised our idea for our company too, we’re going to be buying watch faces and making bracelet like watches with beads and ribbon. So that’s pretty exciting anyway. I also got my junior cert home-ec craft project back. I love my cushion it has a little duck on it it’s so cute  I can’t wait to bring it home, put it on my bed and show everyone haha. I joined soccer in the school this week too, I started it on Wednesday Mr. Corcran wasn’t there, only Mr. Seery but it was pretty good I think I’ll stick with it anyway. I started back at camogie in the school too, it’s good but I have Celbridge training on Thursdays too so I’m pretty wrecked afterwards. So it’s been another good week in ty overall .

Ty week four

This week started off with all of the tys heading to Naas for a mini company workshop. When we got there, there as about five other schools there who were getting the talk too. The talk was all about planning for our minicompany and what we had to do for it. We learned a lot and it was good fun too. I found it helpful in regards to what we will have to do later in the competition but it was not very helpful for the stage we’re at now (because they can’t give us ideas). Afterwards we got to go to Macdonalds I was happy about that it was sweet :)

The other main event taking place this week is the fun run. Instead of creating the best outfits this year its all about what comes up with the best dance to a friendship themed song. So far we’ve been practicing our dance a lot and I think it’s coming along very well. Miss O’Callaghan has been practising with us and now we all know our moves and we’re all ready for tomorrow. We’re dancing to “reach” by S Club 7 and our dance is just fantastically cheesy and brilliant. Mr Lawlor was bragging to us about how he always wins so I’m hoping that our dance wins because of all the work we did and to prove him wrong :) So that’s all for this week and fingers crossed next week I’ll be able to tell you all about how we beat Emnet in the fun, ha!

Ty week three

This week of ty has been the most tiring yet enjoyable week so far. It has been very eventful. On Monday and Tuesday all the tees went to Carlingford with Miss O’Callaghan and Miss Rowan. It was amazing. I got up at six o’clock Monday morning to leave for Carlingford at seven. When we got there we were assigned our rooms and given our keys, about an hour or so afterwards we were split into groups to do different activities. My first activity was going to the high ropes, they were so much fun! We had to do a lot of climbing and stuff on logs high up in the air, we had harnesses on but some of it was still pretty scary. After that we went back to the hostel for a filing lunch of chicken nuggets and chips after that we were off again. This time we went to the sea where we were giving wet suits helmets and life jackets we all done canoeing in two seater canoes it took a while to get into the swing of it but afterwards we did very well I must say. When we were finished canoeing we did pier jumping. There as a small wall and a higher wall that we could jump off of I started on the small one but jumped off the big one a good few times to. It was alot of fun. We went home had dinner, rested for an hour and then went out for a mountain hike. At first everyone hated it cause it was very windy and raining hail stones and getting dark. Our group ended up getting lost and arriving back 40 minutes later than the rest of the girls but as the time passed we all enjoyed ourselves. The next day we were up bright and early at eight o’clock my first activity was orienteering and afterwards we did artery. We went back for lunch then came back for our last activity i9n Carlingford which was“ the challenge course”. That and the high ropes were my favourite activities. One of the challenges was a pitch black  three story maze where we had to find the exit by communicating with each other that’s was probably the best one in the course. My second favourite one was the river crossing. We had to get across a kind of a ditch of water using two small planks of wood without anything getting wet. My fist time trying to get across I fell in and got wet up to my knees, but the second time was even worse. I fell into the water full body and was soaked head to toe. It was really finny! I had to go and take off my jumper and put on one of the instructors’ jackets, we all got a good laugh out of it. After that it was time to get our bags and go home L. I’ll always remember my time at Carlingford I had fun and bonded and that’s what it’s all about. On Wednesday we got our junior cert results. Everyone was nervous including myself but I was delighted with my results. That night I went to time in Naas with all the girls that got their results, it was a brilliant night and everyone enjoyed themselves but we were all knackered on Thursday morning. It was worth it though. As you can see this week was very exciting and so much fun too.

Ty week two

Ty week two:  Second week of ty and as I suspected it has been good. 0n Monday we had a social development class with Austin it was deadly! He helped us by arranging us all into different personality types. He helped us work on our confidence too. All together the day was a lot of fun, it thought us a lot and we bonded closer as a class. We got our materials for home ec and so far our design looks rather good if I do say so myself. We’ve been put into our groups for music too and started to think of ideas of songs to do, we have some ideas but aren’t too sure what to yet have to keep thinking. I’m getting used to the whole school routine and classes and timetable and all, not quite the early mornings but I’m getting there. Next week will be very eventful for all of us between Carlingford, getting our results and going out that night then school bright and early the next day we’ll be nackered but  it should be fun so it’ll be worth it. It’s been another good week and can’t wait to see how next week turns out.

Ty week one

Ty week one: This has been my first week of Transition Year -10. I’m in class Amina and so far it has been good but I think I’ll enjoy it more once I get used to the early mornings everyday. We have to do almost all of the optional subjects except for business, pretty happy about that to be honest. We have new classes too like Mini Company, pastoral care, it and careers, that none of us had last year. We’ve already gotten our project for home ec, we have to design and make an outfit out of a white t-shirt and jeans for 15 euro so that should be fun. We found out we will be making music groups record them and make a video to go wit them for music class. I haven’t got a clue about music but I’m sure I’ll get a laugh out of it anyway. We’re thinking of ideas for young scientist in science too. So far I’ve enjoyed ty and looking forward to what’s coming next.
